Have you ever been driving and notice one of your dashboard warning
lights turn on? What does it mean? What should you do next? Well, here’s a
quick guide to help walk you through the meaning for some of the most common
warning lights and what you should do next to remedy the situation.
Battery
Warning Light
Next steps: check the
battery, battery terminals, and alternator belt. Seek professional help if
needed.
Brake Warning
Light
What it means: either your
brake linings are worn down, brake fluid is low, or the parking brake is on.
Next steps: check to make
sure your parking brake is off, then seek professional help to check your brake
system if the light is still on.
Bulb Failure
Next steps: search for the
light that isn’t working and replace the bulb. Check the fuse box if changing
the bulb doesn’t work.
Oil Pressure
Warning
Next steps: turn your
engine off, check your oil level and top off if low. Seek the help of a
professional if the light stays on or the light turns back on within a short
time after topping off your oil.
Maintenance
Required
Next steps: find your
vehicle’s maintenance service schedule that is located in your owner’s manual.
Service your vehicle as noted in the manual.
