Wash your car: Summer
is dry and that means lots of dirt and build up on the body, underbody and
tires. It’s not just a quick hose off, the deeper the clean the longer your car
will look and feel like new.
Oil Change: Oil
maintenance is very important. You should always be consistent when getting oil
changes, but especially when you're driving long distances in very
hot temperatures. Before and after your summer road trip it is always a good
idea to check. If your oil’s color is amber but is low, top it off. If it’s
black, change it completely!
Fluids: Check
all fluids to make sure they are at proper levels. They might run out quicker
than usual when you’re busy having fun. Check the engine oil, power steering
fluid, brake fluid, transmission fluid, antifreeze/coolant, and windshield
wiper fluid. Make sure to use the proper fluid that will work in the hot summer
weather.
Battery: When
trying to experience new sights and places, your car needs to turn on to start
the endeavor. Check the battery and all its components. Check the connections
and make sure the terminals and cables are corrosion free. Batteries can fail
without warning and you wouldn't want to have to delay the drive. Get it
checked and replace it if necessary.
Tire Check: First,
check your tire pressure. Make sure your tires have the optimal tire pressure
for your vehicle. Next, check your tires for wear. If the tread is wearing
unevenly, go to your nearest service station to get a tire rotation. If your
tread is worn out, replace your tires with new ones as soon as possible.
