Salt Lake County Meals on Wheels Thanks Utah Jiffy Lube for Supporting Volunteers

Salt Lake County Aging & Adult Services’ Meals on Wheels program is thanking Jiffy Lube for supporting volunteers. In October, Jiffy Lube Utah reached out to the Salt Lake County Meals on Wheels team with a generous donation – 100 Jiffy Lube Signature Service Oil Change certificates for the agency’s force of Meals on Wheels’ volunteers, who use their own vehicles to deliver warm and nutritious midday meals to homebound older adults.

This gift is a part of a larger effort in the ongoing partnership Jiffy Lube International has with Meals on Wheels. Throughout October, all Jiffy Lube locations in Utah will be encouraging customers to donate to Meals on Wheels, to be matched by Jiffy Lube International up to $100,000.

“We are so appreciative of this support from Jiffy Lube,” said Paul Leggett, Division Director for Salt Lake County Aging & Adult Services. “Our Meals on Wheels volunteers are so dedicated to their work, and it’s wonderful to have a business in the community reach out to express their gratitude for that service. Jiffy Lube’s support will go directly to our volunteers and help keep them on the road, delivering meals to those who most need them.”

Those interested in volunteering for Meals on Wheels can contact Salt Lake County Aging & Adult Services at (385) 468-3200 or by visiting slco.org/aging.

Electric Vehicles (EVs): Less Maintenance doesn’t Equal No Maintenance

Since EVs have fewer complex parts than a conventionally powered vehicle, they require less preventive maintenance.  However, over the past year, there has been an increase in the number of electric vehicles visiting Jiffy Lube service centers for a variety of services including state inspections, tires, brakes, and windshield wipers.
